Pape is the way my grandfather, Leonard, spelled his last name. Others have said it was spelled PEPE and others have it " from France" spelled PEUPE. Baptism records has birth date as 17 Apr 1899. Some time down the line he and William switched birth dates. I left 23 Apr as birth date as that is what all of his records have including his death record. 1900 Census Jefferson Township, Allen, In.
