Lucy was a helper in the home of Charles Thornbrue and his wife. Charles' wife died in childbirth, having her fifth child. Lucy was 16; a few months later she married Charles and they had four children.
They homesteaded in Creston, Lincoln, Wa., then moved to Coulee City, Wa, and finallly to Wenatchee in 1911.

Lucy Thornbrue Dies
Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Thornbrue, 75, pioneer resident of 216 Methow St., will be held from the Jones and Jones Chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Reverend Willard Stanton will officiate and the interment will be in the Wenatchee cemetery. Don Isenhart will sing with Mrs. Dan Wile at the organ. The following members of the Men's Bible class of the First Methodist Church will serve as casketbearers: Bert Cowles, John Raymond, W.E. Morton, Martin Sorenson, George W. Campbell and Charles Keiser. Mrs. Lucy Apted Thornbrue died in a local hospital Saturday following an illness of three weeks.
Born at St. Mary's, Ontario, Canada on April 28, 1873, she came to South Dakota with her parents in 1883 at the age of 10 years and to Spokane in 1890 at the age of 17 years. There she was married to Charles Thornbrue in 1894. She lived in Pine City, Creston, and Coulee City, prior to moving to Wenatchee in 1907. Mr. Thornbrue died in 1936. Mrs Thornbrue became a member of the Methodist Church in 1893 in Spokane. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Wenatchee.
Surviving are five sons: C. E. Thornbrue of Wenatchee, F. A. Thornbrue of Portland, Or., Walter H. Thornbrue of Cashmere, Wa., J. M. Thornbrue of Wenatchee, George W. Thornbrue of San Francisco, Ca.; four daughters, Mrs. A. R. Lillengreen of Wenatchee, Mrs. Otto Timm of Harrington, Mrs. Oden Dahl of Wenatchee, and Mrs. E. W. Lubking of Wenatchee; one brother, J. W. Apted of Seattle; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
