Manuscript says on Aug. 6, 1817 (not quite same date as Guardianship below) John's father, Thomas Dalrymple, was appointed guardian of John's six children upon the petition of Eleanor Dalrymple, their mother. John's funeral expenses of $42 were paid by his brother, Asa, who married his widow, Eleanor, 11/2 years later (after his death, not after the settlement).

Another note in manscript says John Dalrymple's estate managers were Thomas Dalrymple (John's father) and John Bellis (John's father-in-law) after the widow declined.
