There are multiple routes to get to Olallie lake. I chose one of my favorite approaches, the Talapus lake trail. Starting at the trailhead, you wind your way up a gradual trail about a mile and a half until reaching Talapus lake. Take a moment to enjoy this small accessible lake. Then continue your hike another mile and a half onto Olallie Lake. Taking this route is approx 6.2 mile round trip and only about 1250′ of elevation gain.
